Geographical Variation of Incidence of 
Thyroid Carcinoma

The incidence of newly reported cases of thyroid carcinomas shows considerable geographical variation (Fig. 16.22) – from less than on per one hundred thousand women in Hamburg, to nine per on hundred thousand women in Hawaii. This is thought to be a result of ethnic and environmental factors.
